Royal Editor Calls Prince Harry’s Memoir Title ‘Very Provocative’

Royal editor Rebecca English dubbed Prince Harry’s memoir title as very provocative.

“Most provocative I think is the title Spare. I’ve seen some very funny memes, as I’m sure you all have on social media. The palace is being really careful about this. They don’t want to engage until they hear what’s in it. But people I’ve spoken to are kind of well-plumbed into the situation find that title very, very provocative indeed,” she said (via Cheat Sheet).

Prince Harry Reveled In Being A Spare When He Was Much Younger?

English also revealed that the royal family found out about the title of Prince Harry’s memoir and saw the cover image that he chose at the exact same time that the entire world found out about the two. After all, the Duke of Sussex reportedly did not inform his family beforehand.

“They were reading it on social media — his family, the royal household — at the same time, we were. And I think that probably tells you all you need to know,” she said.

According to English, Prince Harry started perceiving the term spare differently years ago.

“When he was younger, Harry actually quite reveled in it. Ken Wolfe, Princess Diana’s former bodyguard, recounts how, in the car once, Harry was playing up, being naughty and William was trying to admonish him. Basically, Harry said, ‘Well it doesn’t matter. You know, I can do what I want because basically, I’m not going to have the responsibility that you will have,’” she said.

Royal Commentator Claims Prince Harry’s Memoir Title Conjures So Many Images Of Self-Pity

Royal commentator Richard Eden also said that the title of Prince Harry’s memoir conjures so many images of self-pity.

“It’s all sort of woe is me, I’ve had such a hard time and everything. You forget this is a prince born into privilege, that every privilege in the world and now he’s got American firms like Netflix throwing millions at him. Spare us the self-pity!” Eden said.

As of writing, the contents of Prince Harry’s memoir remain unknown. But according to royal author Valentine Low, it is possible for Meghan Markle’s husband to say a lot of awful things in his book.

“The Royal Family, the palace, they’re all waiting for Harry’s book to come out; no one knows what’s in the book yet. And they’re pretty nervous because Harry could say a lot of awful things,” he told Sky News Australia.
