Prince Harry claimed in his book Spare that he wasn't informed before his grandmother Queen Elizabeth's death was announced to the public. He wrote about it in his memoir.

Prince Harry Learned About The Queen's Death Via BBC News?

The Duke of Sussex shared various encounters and incidents with the royal family in his tell-all book. Among the things he shared was how he learned about his dear grandmother's death.

According to Prince Harry, he learned about the news of the Queen's death online after his plane landed and after reading about his wife, Meghan Markle's text.

"When the plane started to descend, I saw my mobile phone light up," Prince Harry wrote in the excerpt obtained by The Mirror. "It was a message from Meg: 'Call me as soon as you read this'. I checked the BBC webpage. My grandmother had died. My father was the King."

He continued, "I put on a black tie, stepped off the plane into heavy drizzle."

Prince Harry's claim in his book came after reports that he wasn't informed about the late monarch's death. However, the palace denied the allegation.

Buckingham Palace Denied Reports Suggesting Prince Harry Only Learned About The Queen's Death Minutes After Public Announcement

Shortly after Queen Elizabeth passed away on Sept. 8, some outlets reported that Prince William's brother only learned about their grandmother's death after the palace announced it in public. However, the public denied the reports.

"The public was only informed after every family member had been informed," King Charles' spokesperson told Daily Mail.

A report from Daily Telegraph claimed that Prince Harry was the "last to know" about the Queen's passing. However, the outlet has since updated the report noting that Prince Harry was not treated differently from other family members.
