Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have both signed a multi-million, multi-year deal with Spotify. The Duchess of Sussex announced her first podcast series, but some wondered why her husband, who was part of the deal, was never mentioned in the recent announcement.

Meghan Markle Doing Podcast For Spotify Without Prince Harry?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a $25 million multi-year deal with Spotify in December 2020. They promised to make podcasts series, but only uploaded one entry after making the deal. They didn't make any new episodes last year.

However, Meghan Markle is already on it. The duchess recently announced her new podcast series titled Archetypes. However, some wonder why her husband, Prince Harry, was never mentioned in the recent announcement.

"One thing that was interesting about the recent statement is that they've said it's Meghan's podcast," Us Weekly's Royally Us co-host Christine Ross said, per Express. "They didn't mention Prince Harry and I think he was initially involved in the project."

She weighed in on the lack of mention of Prince Harry. However, she was convinced that it was probably better because of the topic and issues that the podcast series will cover.

"I do believe it's meant to spotlight strong female voices so it makes sense if Meghan spearheads that project," she added.

Meanwhile, co-host Christina Garibaldi said that the upcoming podcast "comes a little over a year after she and Prince Harry signed a reported $25million deal with Spotify." According to her, there was allegedly some controversy with the podcast that was why it was delayed referring to the COVID misinformation released by other podcasts on Spotify.

Since the royal couple has a multi-year deal with the music streaming company, Prince Harry may have his own podcast. Also, there may be another podcast with them together.

What To Expect In Meghan Markle's Podcast Series On Spotify?

Meghan Markle's original podcast series will investigate the labels that hold women back and will feature conversations with women and experts about how the typecasts shape narratives. In the teaser, Markle addressed the common stereotypes that historically generalized women through the lens of the media and popular culture.

"This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls, and how the media reflects women back to us... but where do these stereotypes come from? And how do they keep showing up and defining our lives?" she said.

"This is Archetypes — the podcast where we dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back. I'll have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives. And I'll talk to historians to understand how we even got here in the first place."

Archetypes will mark the first podcast series as part of Spotify and Achewell Audio's exclusive multi-year partnership. It will be produced by Archewell Audio in partnership with Gimlet Media for Spotify.
