Prince Harry surprisingly snubbed a Christmas tradition when he was looking for a Christmas tree a couple of years back when he was still dating Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry Rejected A Christmas Tradition While With Meghan Markle

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were very festive this season. They even sponsored their neighborhood's first-ever holiday parade. However, in 2016, one approached the couple when they were looking for a Christmas tree. The royal couple was still dating at the time.

According to Ollie Wilkinson, a staff member at the Pines and Needles shop in Battersea Park, he offered the royal couple a mistletoe. The duchess reportedly liked it but not her husband.

"I said 'would you like this mistletoe' and she [Meghan] said 'yes that would be great,'" Wilkinson told BBC News per Express. "He then squeezed one of the berries on it and was like ‘I find this stuff weird’ and then she was like ‘oh, I really like it.'"

He continued, "Then he walked off with the tree on his shoulder, holding her hand, and she was holding in her other hand a bunch of mistletoe."

They reportedly shelled out £65 on a 6ft Nordmann Fir tree from the south London store.

Another staff, Zaqia Crawford, who, just like Markle, is from the U.S., also recalled meeting them at the Battersea store. According to her, Prince Harry and Markle came in to buy a tree, and they went over to help them pick the tree.

"They knew exactly which tree they wanted – it wasn't exactly a long process," she said. "They were really friendly, really nice... I didn’t know it was them at all."

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Released Their Christmas Card

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released their Christmas card Thursday. Many were pleased to see it because it featured their daughter, baby Lili for the first time.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex never released any official photos of their baby girl after welcoming her in June. So, seeing baby Lili for the first time in their Christmas card was a huge treat for Prince Harry and Markle's fans.

However, prior to the release of their Christmas card, royal commentator Angela Levin weighed in the couple's move. She speculated that they delayed their Christmas card to allegedly "trump" the other members of the royal family.

"But I think they'd like to do it last because they got into the idea that the most senior Royals arrived last and do these things last, so they are going to trump everybody else," she said.
