Prince William and Prince Harry have allegedly been at odds with each other for quite some time.
Even though they have been photographed together on multiple occasions, royal experts believe that they have not yet resolved their issues. Reports claimed that Prince William and Prince Harry’s falling out started shortly after the latter started dating Meghan Markle. And the brothers’ rift worsened after the Duke of Sussex announced his engagement.
Since then, Prince William and Prince Harry have shown little progress when it comes to repairing their relationship. The last time that they were photographed together was in July 2021 when they attended the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue.
Prince William, Prince Harry’s Rift Affects Queen Elizabeth
However, it’s also possible that the brothers are talking to each other regularly in private. But during a recent interview, royal photographer Arthur Edwards claimed that the first move should come from Prince Harry for the sake of Queen Elizabeth.
“It must be upsetting to the Queen to see that in her family, that two boys that grew up together, they played soldiers together, they had their treehouse at Highgrove together and learned to fly together. They flew helicopters together and now they're not even talking to each other. I don't know what he's got to do to make it right. But it's got to come from him and it's got to come from him in a big way. And from Meghan. I think it's possible you can change any situation if you really both want to. While this feud is going on with his brother where they barely talk to each other, it's not nice,” Edwards told Express.
Andrew Neil added that Prince William and Prince Harry’s ongoing rift could also sideline important events within the royal family. And it seems this already happened.
Prince William, Prince Harry Didn’t Chat During Prince Philip’s Funeral
Last year, Prince Harry attended Prince Philip’s funeral service in the United Kingdom. But eagle-eyed royal fans were more focused on his interactions with the royal family, particularly Prince William and Prince Charles.
However, the brothers remained distant during this outing. And Prince Harry was photographed chatting with Kate Middleton instead.
Royal Experts Weigh In On Prince William, Prince Harry’s Rift
Last year, royal expert Camilla Tominey also weighed in on Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud in the Channel 5 documentary, 2021: The Queen’s Terrible Year.
Tominey said that Prince William and Prince Harry’s ongoing feud must be impacting the queen negatively.
“I think we knew that Harry and William's relationship had changed over the years just because Harry himself admitted that they were on different paths. There were reports that there had been tensions, the Queen is a conflict avoider by nature. The idea of Harry and William not being close, I think would really trouble her,” she said.
Royal expert Emily Nash also talked about Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship in the documentary.
“The Queen made it clear in her statement in response to the Oprah interview that Harry and Megan remained much-loved members of the family. And it's clear that you know, the falling out between the brothers, in particular, will be very hard for her to bear. Particularly given that she took a close interest in their upbringing following the loss of their mother. You know, these are two brothers who have been inseparable for many years. And it's incredibly sad to see things end the way they have,” Nash said.

Prince Harry Gives Update On His Relationship With Prince William
Prince William has not directly addressed his rift with Prince Harry. But the latter opened up about it in passing during his interview with Oprah Winfrey.
At the time, the Duke of Sussex said that he will always love Prince William because they are brothers.
“You know, as I’ve said before, I love William to bits. He’s my brother. We’ve been through hell together. I mean, we have a shared experience. But, you know, we’re on different paths. The relationship is space, at the moment. And, you know, time heals all things, hopefully,” Prince Harry said.
