Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Snubbed The Royal Family Because They Were Frustrated?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the royal family during the Queen's funeral. However, they reportedly snubbed an event on the eve of the Queen's burial because they were furious that they were not invited to the reception for the world leaders.

Among the guests at the high-profile event were U.S. President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel, as well as King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan.

"Harry and Meghan snubbed the final family gathering on the eve of the queen's burial, choosing not to attend a funeral briefing for the royal family at Buckingham Palace because of their frustration of having their invitation rescinded to a reception that evening for visiting heads of state and overseas guests," royal editor Roya Nikkhah claimed, Showbiz CheatSheet reported.

Why Were Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Uninvited To The Reception?

Initially, Prince Harry and Markle were invited to the reception at Buckingham Palace for the head of state and diplomats. However, they were uninvited because they were non-working royals, and the event was exclusive to the working royals only.

"It's understood that the family wanted Prince Harry to be there, even though he was unable to get to Balmoral in time to see his grandmother," royal expert Katie Nicholl, the author of "Harry: Life, Loss, and Love," told Entertainment Tonight.

The couple skipping the event reportedly showed the royal family's mixed feelings toward the royal couple. They were allowed to take part in most of the events for the Queen's official funeral, but she was allegedly not allowed to travel with Prince Harry to Balmoral. The Duke of Sussex was also not allowed to wear his military uniform. He was eventually allowed to wear it during the grandchildren's vigil, but the Queen's initials were noticeably removed.

The Sussexes left shortly after the Queen's burial. Several sources claimed that despite their presence at the funeral, they left without fixing their strained relationship with the royal family.
