Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee even though they knew that not everyone would be welcoming of their return. It seems the Sussexes decided that the Platinum Jubilee was the perfect opportunity for them to bring their entire family to England and show their support for the Queen.
But true enough, some royal fans booed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the Queen’s Thanksgiving Service. But even if this was the case, the couple carried on with their appearance, and they also served as each other’s strongest support system at the time.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Leaned On Each Other During The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
While speaking on the Royally Us podcast, body language expert Elaine Swann said that Prince Harry and Markle leaned on each other during their outing.
“You know, the thing with Harry and Meghan that I love is that they really truly lean on one another for that equal support, And Harry’s just so gracious, so attentive to his wife. You can tell, there were gestures and holding their hand, giving her little glances to let her know that he’s there for one another and they certainly had this united front with one. And it’s very clear that, as far as the dynamic is concerned for this family, it really is them together collectively and then also the monarchy and the working royals in the family. There’s definitely a divide as far as it’s concerned,” Swann explained (via Cheat Sheet).
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Stayed Focused On The Reason For Their Return And Not The Boos
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also forced to put their brave faces on because they were there for their family. And even their issues haven’t been resolved; they wanted to focus on the event and be there for the monarch.
“But I believe, behind the scenes, you know, this is still a family. This is still a family and they’re going to tread through these waters in the best way that they can but they certainly put on the bravest face that they could and moved forward with their focus being, ‘We’re here to celebrate this jubilee and focus on this’ and not necessarily lean too much into the rift that the rest of the family members might have,” she said.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Praised By Body Language Expert
At the end of the day, Swann said that she thinks Prince Harry and Markle did a pretty good job during the outing. And she also said that even though the couple received boos left and right, they should remember that they are loved in the United States.
“I feel like they leaned on each other and they understood the purpose. They went there, they did what they were supposed to do, and sat where they were supposed to sit, whether it was on the other side of the aisle or not and they said, ‘You know what, this is a moment in time, we’re going to get on the other side of this and live the rest of their lives. Because what they do have is a very, very warm welcome reception back here in the U.S,” Swann concluded.
As of writing, it’s still unclear when Prince Harry and Markle will return to Britain again. For now, they are back in the United States with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
