Netflix just dropped the first trailer of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's docuseries Harry & Meghan. The dramatic clip received mixed responses from palace insiders.

Are Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Declaring War With Their Docuseries?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's upcoming documentary on the streaming giant, Netflix, is being seen as a "declaration of war" by palace sources, according to royal editor Rebecca English in her article for Daily Mail.

The nearly one-minute trailer includes dozens of private pictures from the family album and footage with a voice-over from Prince Harry saying, "no-one sees what's happening behind closed doors."

There is a picture of Markle crying. There is a photo of pinched-looking Prince William and Kate Middleton from the 2019 Commonwealth Service in London, with the Sussexes sitting behind them.

"I don't see how anyone could view it as anything other than a declaration of war," one insider told English.

"None of this is a surprise," another added.

Insiders Question The Timing Of The Release Of Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Docuseries Trailer

The timing of the release of the Harry & Meghan trailer also raised eyebrows. It was released a day before Prince William and Kate Middleton's Earthshot Prize ceremony in Boston.

There are speculations that they are trying to steal the thunder from the Prince and Princess of Wales.

"One can only conclude this is a concerted publicity drive on their behalf to stoke up interest in this documentary and is designed to clash with the Wales," a well-placed source told Daily Mail.

"The prince and princess's high-profile trip to the States to shine a light on community projects in Boston and the environmental crisis is being apparently used as a platform for the Sussexes to create the drama and attention they so clearly crave on a personal level, as well as content for the multi-million dollar deal they have signed since quitting as working royals. While the Waleses will carry on with their duties, Team Sussex appears determined to remind America of their own "compassionate activism" – one lucrative contract at a time."

Meghan Markle's Sister Says Prince Harry's Statement About Family Protection Makes No Sense

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle's estranged sister, Samantha Markle, reacted to the trailer when she appeared on GB News with Dan Wootton and Tom Bower. According to her, Prince Harry's statement about doing all he can to protect his family doesn't make sense to her when she thinks about how the Duke of Sussex treats the royal family after Megxit.

I think the jaw-dropper for me was Harry saying that he has to do everything he could to protect his family," Samantha said.

"You know when I got out of the dictionary, I couldn't find the way they've treated the royal family or our family [the Markles] anywhere in the dictionary under protection. It's like, I thought, what is he talking about? This is not protection, it's you know, if we're watching a series over here, the one we're watching is like a series of attacks one after the other."
