Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their royal duties in 2020. They also attacked the royal family and the institution but accepted the royal titles for their children Archie and Lilibet, prompting Piers Morgan to call them "hypocrites."

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Called 'Hypocrites' Over Children's Royal Titles

TalkTV presenter and royal critic Piers Morgan reacted to the reports about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children having royal titles formally. For him, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "hypocrites."

He also claimed that they demanded royal titles for their children.

Morgan tweeted:

"Imagine spending years trashing the royals as a bunch of cruel privileged racists trapped in a terrible prison of an institution - and then demanding to call your daughter 'Princess'? Even by Meghan & Harry standards, just laughable hypocrisy."

Prince Harry and Markle confirmed their children's royal titles when they announced Lilibet's christening.

The Sussexes rep said in a statement to People and Page Six:

"I can confirm that Princess Lilibet was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor. The children's titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch. This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace."

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Getting Royal Titles Is 'Ironic', Expert Claims

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams finds it "ironic" that Archie and Lilibet are getting royal titles because their parents no longer have HRH titles.

He said this on GB News, per Express.

"This was supposedly something that would happen automatically, equally of course. Now it's up to each individual monarch and there was some speculation that this might not happen. But there's also the issue of whether or not the Sussexes want Archie and Lilibet to use them, obviously they want to give them the option."

He added:

"It's all a rather complex matter because obviously, there is a deep rift in the Royal Family. We don't know whether in fact Harry and Meghan will be attending the Coronation. This at least, makes absolutely clear that both Archie and Lilibet will have the Prince and Princess titles. If they want to use them, which is of course somewhat ironic since their parents cannot use the HRH title."

According to People, Archie and Lilibet's titles will only be used in formal settings and not in everyday use. The royal website had been updated to reflect Archie and Lilibet's royal titles.
