Prince Harry and Meghan Markle included footage from Princess Diana's infamous Panorama interview in their Netflix documentary. However, the move could only worsen their already strained relationship, according to a report.

Prince Harry And Meghan's Use Of Princess Diana's Panorama Interview Will Cause Further Divide With Prince William?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke about their relationship with the press in Harry & Meghan. They also showed clips of Princess Diana and Kate Middleton being hounded by the press. There is also footage of Princess Diana's interview with BBC's Martin Bashir for Panorama.

The use of the controversial footage may not sit well with his brother Prince William, Showbiz CheatSheet reported. The Prince of Wales already said that the interview should not be shown because their mom was deceived into doing the interview.

"The deceitful way the interview was obtained substantially influenced what my mother said. The interview was a major contribution to making my parents' relationship worse. It has since hurt countless others," William stated in the Twitter clip above.

He added, "It is my firm view that this Panorama program holds no legitimacy and should never be aired again."

Harry & Meghan Should Have Skipped Princess Diana's Panorama Interview Footage, Expert Claims

True Royalty TV co-founder Nick Bullen also weighed in on the issue. In his opinion, the Sussexes should not have used the footage because the Duke of Sussex could make his point without showing footage of the controversial interview.

"When that scene popped up, I could not believe it," Bullen told Fox News. "William stood outside Kensington Palace and said this material should never be seen again. And it should be consigned to history. And here are Harry and Meghan using it in their documentary. Some would argue you can draw a line from that interview to the Paris tunnel. And here they are using it in their program."

Prince Harry And Prince William Reportedly United In Their Distaste For Panorama Interview

While Prince William and Prince Harry may have a different stand when it comes to showing their mom's Panorama interview to the world again, both reportedly shared the same distaste toward it.

"William and Harry are united in their distaste for the BBC and Bashir's ethics regarding the interview. But they do have differing opinions," a palace insider told Page Six.

The Prince of Wales strongly disagreed with airing the interview again. However, the Duke of Sussex was reportedly fine with the usage of it because it's part of their mom's history.

"Harry has more condemnation for the media in this case, rather than the actual interview, and is said to not want the footage erased from history," the source continued. "This is something that came together in the wrong way, but in the end, it is still part of Diana's story."

BBC Apologised To The Royals And Agreed To Never Air The Panorama Interview Again

BBC had already issued an apology to King Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry after learning that Princess Diana was manipulated to do the interview. The management also agreed to never air the program again.

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologise publicly to her, to The Prince of Wales, and to the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex, for the way in which Princess Diana was deceived and the subsequent impact on all their lives," BBC director general Tim Davie released the statement via the network's website.

"It is a matter of great regret that the BBC did not get to the facts in the immediate aftermath of the program when there were warning signs that the interview might have been obtained improperly. Instead, as The Duke of Cambridge himself put it, the BBC failed to ask the tough questions. Had we done our job properly Princess Diana would have known the truth during her lifetime. We let her, The Royal Family and our audiences down."
"Now we know about the shocking way that the interview was obtained I have decided that the BBC will never show the program again; nor will we license it in whole or part to other broadcasters."
