Prince Harry Buried His Unborn Child With 'Bare' Hands, 'Wept' With Meghan Markle After Hearing The Tragic News

Prince Harry recalled the moment he learned Meghan Markle had a miscarriage in his new book, including his experience burying his own child. Writing in his controversial memoir titled Spare, the brother of Prince William talked about his hopelessness when his wife experienced abdominal pains one morning at their new home in Montecito, California.

Prince Harry Detailed The Tragic Miscarriage Of Meghan Markle

The Duke of Sussex also revealed the moment he dug a hole with his bare hands and set their “tiny package” into the soil below a tree at a “secret place.” Towards the end of the 82nd chapter of his book, Prince Harry detailed how Meghan Markle showed the first signs of miscarriage on the “first morning” in their new house in the U.S.

Prince Harry divulged that his wife experienced “abdominal pains” and bleeding before collapsing to the floor, which prompted a race to their local hospital. The youngest son of King Charles said they understood what had happened as their doctor walked into the room.

The duke penned:

"When the doctor walked into the room, I didn't hear one word she said, I just watched her face, her body language. I already knew. We both did."

Prince Harry also said that he and Meghan Markle held each other and that they “both wept” after hearing the tragic news. He also described the crushing effects of losing a child, adding he felt “hopeless” as he left the hospital.

The brother of Prince William also said he had only felt this way three other times, while in the back of a car with his mother and brother being “chased by paps,” in an Apache helicopter above Afghanistan, and at Nottingham Cottage while Meghan Markle was “planning to take her life.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the hospital clutching a “tiny package” and travelled to a “secret place.” The duke said he buried his unborn child under a banyan tree somewhere only the two of them knew.

He wrote:

"Under a spreading banyan tree, while Meg wept, I dug a hole with my hands and set the tiny package softly in the ground."
