Prince Harry is still not over the treatment and drama he and his wife, Meghan Markle, encountered when they returned to the United Kingdom last month. Although they joined the royal family for the Queen's funeral, he still reportedly felt so distant from them. And it got him thinking about how his upcoming memoir will affect his relationship with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William.
Prince Harry Reportedly Anxious About Memoir's Effect On Relationship With King Charles And Prince William
The Duke of Sussex is releasing a memoir, and the publishing date has been moved to later next year due to the Queen's passing. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle immediately flew back to California a day after the Queen's funeral.
However, the incidents in his home country still weighed heavily on him, Heat World reported. Several sources claimed that their relationship with the royals has remained strained. Prince Harry was allegedly anxious that his book could "spell a potentially more permanent estrangement" from his family.
"Harry went home with a heavy heart," a source told Heat World. "He's feeling lost and sad. It was a difficult few weeks in the UK, with a few embarrassing snubs from his relatives, but he also felt immensely proud to be British."
"It was an honour to be part of such a unique and deeply moving tribute to Her Majesty, and it made him sad that he's physically and emotionally so far away."
Prince William's brother reportedly plans to reconcile with them and end the rift. Unfortunately, the anonymous source claimed that Markle wasn't supportive.
Since Prince Harry and his wife are not on the same page when it comes to him mending his rift with his family, the Duke of Sussex is reportedly planning to return to England without her in December.
Prince Harry Can Still Cancel Memoir But Can't Afford To Pay Publisher?
Many sources believed that once Prince Harry drops his memoir and if it shades his family, his relationship with the royals will be worse.
Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl, who just released her new book The New Royals, believes that he still has a way out. The royal expert and author said that there is usually a "get-out clause."
However, Prince Harry has to pay back the publisher, so it will stop the release of his book. Unfortunately, Nicholl doesn't think Prince Harry could afford it.
"And given one of the key reasons they left the royal family was to be financially independent, how are they going to make money? They do need to make money, they're both relatively wealthy in their own right," Nicholl explained.
"But they're not that wealthy that they can just afford to give that back," she continued. There's a mortgage, there's a lot of things to be done."
British journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower believed that Prince Harry is stuck with the memoir. He also doesn't see Prince Harry and Markle canceling their deals with Netflix, Spotify and the book because they need money.
"So, I think they're just stuck with the devil. Now they're tied to Netflix, they're tied to their book, and all the criticisms they're going to take means nothing to them because that's the only way they can earn their money," Bower said.
