Prince Charles and Prince William are gearing up for their future role. Both will be leading the monarchy at some point in their lives after Queen Elizabeth II. And at this point, they are already stepping up into Queen Elizabeth II's role.
Prince Charles And Prince William Step Up Following Queen Elizabeth II's COVID-19 Diagnosis
Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II tested positive for COVID-19. Many were wondering where the Queen was amid Russia's invasions of Ukraine. Prince William and Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles released a statement supporting Ukraine.
"First of all, we heard from Prince William and Kate they showed their solidarity with the people of Ukraine having met their president and wife in recent months," royal editor Russell Myers said on ITV's Lorraine (via Express) on Wednesday. "But powerful words from Prince Charles yesterday he was in Southend, the town has become a city for the first time in tribute to the late Sir David Ames who was tragically murdered last year."
For Myers, the move was "another changing of the guards because we’re hearing from Prince Charles very statesmanlike with those words standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Ukraine."
He added, "Again, something that we’re seeing both Charles and William step to the role that the Queen has had for many years."
What Did Prince Charles And Prince William Say To Support Ukraine?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were the first ones to release a statement for Ukraine. On Saturday, they release a statement on Twitter to voice their support to President Zelenskyy.
"In October 2020, we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future," Prince William and Kate Middleton tweeted. "Today, we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future."

Meanwhile, Prince Charles called Sir David Ames, who was murdered last year, "an attack of democracy." He also called the attack on Ukraine a "brutal aggression."
"We are seeing those same values under attack today in Ukraine in the most unconscionable way. In the stand we take here, we are in solidarity with all those who are resisting brutal aggression," the Prince of Wales said.

Ukraine President Zelenskyy responded to the Cambridges' message and thanked them and the royal family for their support.
"Olena and I are grateful to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge @RoyalFamily that at this crucial time, when Ukraine is courageously opposing Russia's invasion, they stand by our country and support our brave citizens. Good will triumph," Ukraine President Zelenskyy tweeted Tuesday.
