Prince Charles was recently named as the royal that had questions regarding the color of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s firstborn child, Archie.

The remarks were reportedly made by the heir to the throne to his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, while they were having breakfast at Clarence House.

Prince Harry and Markle did not namedrop Prince Charles during their interview with Oprah Winfrey. But they didn’t also defend the future king amid the criticisms that he’s receiving right now.

Prince Charles Devastated Over Allegations That He’s Racist

Woman’s Day, in its Dec. 13 issue, claimed that Prince Charles is devastated to have the race row brought up in such an ugly manner. After all, it was never his intention to insult Prince Harry and Markle or even their offspring. In fact, when Prince Charles made that comment, he was still, reportedly very fond of his daughter-in-law.

“He is furious, of course, and absolutely denies that any such conversation with Camilla over breakfast took place. But Charles’ first thoughts were immediately on his youngest son and grandson, Archie, and how this horrible story might be affecting them. It’s the last thing Charles wanted and he wants a chance to apologize to Harry that it’s all come to this,” an unnamed source said.

Prince Harry Waiting For Prince Charles To Reach Out To Him

The unnamed source added that Prince Harry is ready to forgive his dad but only if Prince Charles would apologize to him.

“Harry’s not exactly running to the phone when his father calls just yet, but word is being sent to him that they should talk about it for Archie’s sake. It won’t be long before he’ll be able to read this stuff online for himself, and Charles is anxious to get it all straight before that can happen,” the unnamed source concluded.

Royal Author Defends Prince Charles

While speaking with The Daily Beast, royal author Christopher Andersen confirmed that the racist royal that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex referred to during their interview was Prince Charles.

However, Andersen also gave some context to what really transpired that morning during the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s conversation.

“I was able to trace the origins of the controversy back to Charles casually asking Camilla what she thought Harry and Meghan’s children might look like—hair color, eye color, complexion. Keep in mind that at the time Charles was extremely fond of Meghan and had become friendly with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland,” he said.

Andersen described Prince Charles’ remarks as innocent musings of a grandfather. But because palace aides heard it and passed it on from one person to the next, the context became radically changed and toxic.

“So, by the time it reached Harry, he was shocked at what he was hearing. When Harry complained to his father, Charles suggested that he was being oversensitive,” Andersen said.

Princess Anne Dragged Into Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Allegations

Following Prince Harry and Markle’s interview with Winfrey in March, royal author Lady Colin Campbell dragged Princess Anne into the couple’s rhetoric.

“Harry decided that on the slimmest of hints about culture - that it referred to color. She [Anne] had concerns about the disastrous effects of allowing somebody of that ilk, character-wise, into the family, which would not only cause trouble for all of them but also for any child born of the union. Harry ran to Meghan with the objections, Meghan weaponized them on the grounds of color. We are looking at people who are very eager to spot a slight where doubtless none exist,” Campbell said via Daily Mail.

As of late, Prince Charles, Prince Harry, and Markle have not commented on Andersen and Campbell’s claims, so it’s still unclear which of the two royal authors is telling the truth.
