Prince Andrew has a special relationship with his mother, Queen Elizabeth. In fact, royal experts dubbed him the Queen’s favorite child because the two are extremely close. The monarch never left her son’s side even while he was battling Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s sexual abuse lawsuit.

However, since the Queen has a duty to The Crown, she was left with no other choice but to strip Prince Andrew of his royal titles and duties. But it was the Duke of York that decided that he would step back from his role shortly after his controversial interview with the BBC aired in 2019.

Royal Family Hasn’t Forgiven Prince Andrew For The Damage He Caused

However, the insider also claimed that the royal family isn’t buying what Prince Andrew is trying to do. After all, they believe that he’s a disgrace, so they still want him to stay out of the limelight.

“The rest of the family, apart from Her Majesty, are united in feeling that he should stay out of the limelight and keep quiet, having left such a stain on the family,” the source said.

In fact, even though Prince Andrew will attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, he won’t be making an appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Trooping the Colour.

It’s unclear where he would stay during the important event, but he’s not the only member who has been banned from the balcony. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be there either.

Prince Andrew Could Attend The Garter Service Next Month

But even if this is the case, another source told The Telegraph that the Duke of York could be secretly rejoicing amid reports that he will grace the Garter Service on June 13. Even though nothing has been finalized yet, the insider claimed that Prince Andrew could attend in a private capacity as one of the Order’s Royal Knights.

According to Express, the title is considered private because it is bestowed by the Queen as the sovereign of the Order. As such, she appointed the Duke of York as one of the Order’s Royal Knights without consulting the ministers.

However, it seems that only time will tell whether Prince Andrew would indeed attend the Garter Service.
