Pokemon: Detective Pikachu Sequel Receives Promising Update

The Pokemon live-action Detective Pikachu was released in 2019 with huge success as it managed to gross more than $400 million. It just shows that the beloved property still has love and affection from fans and audiences worldwide as it continues to go on even to this day.

However, despite its very solid results, we still have not heard any updates about its potential sequel even though the producers have announced that they are already working on a follow-up following the first film's success. Is it still happening? Will we see Ryan Reynolds voice Pikachu again?

A recent report from Polygon revealed that a representative from Legendary Pictures, one of the production companies behind the film, told them that the project is still in "active development" although they didn't cite the key creative players who are working behind it.

However, a representative of Oren Uziel, who was initially tapped to work on the screenplay for the sequel, claimed that he is no longer working on the project although he has written an outline and draft of the screenplay prior to his exit.

While the latest update of the project might be ambiguous, it is still exciting to hear that it is still in the works and we can still count on a potential follow-up in a few years if they were able to get over from being stuck in the development process.

Obviously, there is also a chance that the producers will decide to stop its development later on and any plans for the sequel will get canceled especially since it's been a couple of years now since the first film was released and the audience might have already moved on from their interest.

For now, let's just wait for more potential updates in the coming months and years if ever we get to hear more about it. After all, who wouldn't want to see Reynolds voice Pikachu again.
