Pixar's Elemental Official Trailer Unveils Colorful Romeo and Juliet-Esque Story

Disney and Pixar have released the official trailer for the upcoming film Elemental. Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie are leading the voice cast as Ember and Wade, respectively. The story centers on the bond between the two main characters despite being different elements and are not allowed to touch each other.

The preview gave us an extended look at the colorful Elemental City, a world that consists of different elements and it looks like Pixar has upped their animation game as they channeled different styles to visually show us the distinct elements that are living under the same world.

They also revealed that Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer, and Joe Pera are part of the cast of the film.

Based on this trailer, it looks like it is going to be one of Pixar's most visually-dazzling films to date and it sounds like the story is also going to be a play on the classic Romeo and Juliet story. Considering the studio's recent track record, there is a lot of hope that the film will be able to break the curse and become a huge box-office hit like in Pixar's glory days.

Inspired by director Peter Sohn's childhood in New York City and big cities around the globe, the film transports moviegoers to an extraordinary place called Element City, where a host of elements live and work, and embraces theorized contributions from each elemental community.

The studio also revealed that its release will be accompanied by the Up short film titled Carl's Date. The story focuses on Carl, who reluctantly agrees to go on a date with a lady friend as he admits that he has no idea how dating works these days. Dug steps in to calm Carl’s pre-date jitters and offer some tried-and-true tips for making friends.
