Margot Robbie stunned fans last month after claiming that her Pirates of the Caribbean reboot received the boot from Disney. The project which was first announced to be in development in 2020 would have seen an all-female cast with Robbie in the lead.

According to the Australian actress, Disney no longer wants to do the project which led many to believe that Johnny Depp is making his shocking return to the franchise as Jack Sparrow, years after the House of Mouse dropped him from the beloved film series.

Well, it looks like there's zero truth to Margot's claims and according to one of the franchise's creatives, her Pirates project hasn't been scrapped. Speaking with Collider, producer Jerry Bruckheimer refuted the DC star's previous declaration, saying that the reboot is still happening. However, he did reveal that they're prioritizing another project with a different story, something that has apparently been in active development as well.

Bruckheimer said: "I think that that script will come forward at a certain point. We developed two different stories for Pirates and the other one’s going forward first, so that’s what we’re working on, to try to get that one made."

It'll be interesting to see if Disney will keep Robbie on board, especially after her comments stirred controversy online. As for the possibility of Depp coming back to the Pirates franchise, it seems to be the most logical move for the company now that the actor has been cleared of his personal troubles. I guess it's just a matter of whether or not Disney is willing to acknowledge that they were wrong for firing Johnny in the first place.

That said, every film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is available to stream on Disney+.
