Johnny Depp fans are willing to go the extra mile just to save the reputation of the actor amid all of the controversies surrounding his personal life. In fact, there's this ongoing online petition demanding Disney to reinstate Depp to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the film series which he pretty much made iconic. The said petition was launched a few years back but it gained widespread attention on social media, resurfacing following Depp's firing from Fantastic Beasts 3.

The Change.org petition is doing well for the most part and as of writing, the "We want JOHNNY DEPP back as CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW" petition has crossed over 350,000 signatures. The creators of the online movement are targeting 500,000 signatures and it won't be long until they reach their goal. The only question is, will the folks over at Walt Disney Studios listen?

Recently, we learned exactly why Depp was let go from his Pirates of the Caribbean contract, and the chances of him ever coming back as Jack Sparrow look pretty slim. Considering Disney is generally a family-friendly company, it's only natural for them to cut ties with Depp especially now that his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard has garnered so much mainstream attention.

Meanwhile, Margot Robbie will star in the upcoming reboot of Pirates of the Caribbean.
