Pippa Middleton had a change of mind about Meghan Markle's presence at her wedding ceremony and reception. She reportedly decided at the last minute not to have the former actress at the church ceremony and kept her away from Prince Harry at the reception.

Kate Middleton's younger sister married James Matthews at St. Mark's Church in Berkshire on May 20, 2017. At the time, Prince Harry was dating Meghan Markle.

Since Pippa decided to invite Prince Harry, she was open to Markle as his plus one. However, royal experts claimed that her mom Carole Middleton was concerned that Markle would "overshadow the main event," Express reported. There were rumors that the bride didn't want Markle to steal her thunder.

For the same reason, the Duchess of Cambridge decided not to be part of her sister's entourage. Middleton did not serve as her bridesmaid or maid of honor so that everyone's attention would be on the bride.

Royal author Judy Wade said Kate Middleton was determined not to "upstage her sister" on her big day. She was photographed on that day with her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who were part of the entourage.

Markle didn't show up at the church, but Prince Harry was there. The Duke of Sussex arrived in Berkshire and left later to fetch Markle for the reception.

Pippa Middleton Prevented Meghan Markle And Prince Harry From Sitting Together At Her Wedding Reception

The Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister Pippa Middleton has become closer to the royal family after she married Prince William. Some even hoped that Pippa would find her royal romance in Prince Harry. Apparently, it wasn't the case as they were just friends.

Pippa found her prince charming in Matthews. She also got her dream wedding, but at the reception, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were kept apart.

Pippa changed the traditional wedding seating arrangement and requested couples not to sit together. The new and unique seating plan prompted couples to explore and socialize with new people, which was what Pippa wanted in the first place. She wanted the guests to get to know each other instead of just talking to those they already know.

Prince Harry and Markle did not sit together for dinner, and the same happened to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The guests were reportedly appreciative, and they loved the idea. The outlet noted that no one seemed to mind the bride's request and the guests still enjoyed the event.

A source told People it was the wedding that "Pippa and James dreamed of."

"They said all along they wanted it to be a private family wedding at home in the beautiful countryside with their closest friends and family," the insider added.

Pippa and Matthews are already parents to two children — Arthur and Grace. Their third baby is on the way because Pippa is pregnant.
