The first season of Peacemaker gave us one of the most memorable moments ever on television when the Justice League showed up at the end of the climactic battle. DCEU film actors Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller even showed up to reprise their respective roles in the franchise. Their cameo appearance made a lot of fans delighted and some of them are now wondering if we’ll ever see more like this in future seasons of the show. Fortunately, it looks like that will be the case.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Peacemaker director and writer James Gunn discussed his experience filming the Justice League cameo in which he revealed that there are tons of unused footage involving Miller talking about Aquaman having sex with a fish for 16 minutes. "I have tons of stuff I didn't use," he said. "Ezra went on – and I'm not kidding – for 16 minutes about Aquaman having sex with fish. It was really funny."
Gunn went on to express his delight about the positive fan response to the cameo, "It was done through pure force of will on my part, of really pushing it to happen. I think everybody read it in the script, agreed to it, and then it became [a thing], and they realized what a big fucking deal it was."
If ever you're wondering if we'll ever see more cameo appearances from other DC characters in future seasons, Gunn has good news for you. "I think we're going to see more connections in some other stuff as we move forward with Peacemaker and other shows at HBO Max. So those [cameos] will keep coming," he said. "I don't know if the Justice League is going to show up in every season of Peacemaker; that might be a one-time thing. We'll see!"
It is great to hear that we might see more cameo from other DC heroes in the future seasons of Peacemaker. As long as it is integral to the story and there's a payoff to it, fans wouldn't mind if the series will do more cameos and won't use it simply as just a cheap trick. Maybe next season, Batman and Cyborg will finally show up since they were absent when the Justice League showed up. For now, all we can do is speculate until the second season airs. Fingers crossed that they're going to release the unused footage as well.
