Peacemaker: Amanda Waller Spinoff Series in the Works at HBO Max

Even though The Suicide Squad didn't do well at the box office, its spinoff series Peacemaker was a huge success when it aired on HBO Max earlier this year and it resulted in them getting a second season renewal. Now, it looks like this part of the DCEU from James Gunn will expand even further as another character is set to have their own series.

According to Variety, HBO Max is currently developing a Peacemaker/The Suicide Squad spinoff series centering on Amanda Waller with Viola Davis in talks to star and reprise the role. The exact plot details are still under wraps for now although it is set to be built off of her appearance at the end of the Peacemaker season one finale when Leota Adebayo outed her Task Force X project.

Watchmen writer Christal Henry will write and executive produce the series alongside Davis, Gunn, and Peter Safran. Warner Bros. Television will produce. HBO Max has not yet made any official comment regarding the news.

This news comes off after Gunn revealed a while ago that he is working on a new series centering on another character from The Suicide Squad although he didn't confirm which one of them during that time.

It is exciting to hear that they are working on another spinoff series from The Suicide Squad/Peacemaker. Amanda Waller is certainly an interesting choice and there are a lot of directions that they can take with her after what happened at the end of Peacemaker's season one finale where she is expected to have a larger presence moving forward.
