Patty Jenkins Not Interested In Working With Netflix

It looks like the Wonder Woman 1984 simultaneous release in theaters and on HBO Max has been traumatic for Patty Jenkins. The director is determined to ensure that her future projects will get a full theatrical release. In addition to that, Jenkins is refusing to work on a Netflix movie.

Wonder Woman 1984 was originally set for a December 2019 release date but kept getting pushed back due to Warner Bros.' line-up and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The delay ultimately forced the studio to give the DC Extended Universe sequel a day-to-date release, making the film available both in theaters and on the streaming service.

Although Jenkins accepted the fate of her film, she has admitted that she is hoping that avoid day-to-date "forever." During a special luncheon at CinemaCon, the Wonder Woman 1984 director stated that she makes "movies for the big-screen experience." With that in mind, Jenkins isn't quite ready to make something for the small screen.

"I won't make one," Jenkins said about working on a film for Netflix (via Deadline). She then clarified that it doesn't necessarily mean she isn't interested in working on a project for the streaming service.

"I like working with Netflix for television, I wouldn't make a movie there or any streaming service with those terms," Jenkins said. "It's hard to market a movie when it has a limited run."

Jenkins is certainly making it clear that she knows what she wants to work on and will not back down if possible. Hopefully, her upcoming projects will not have to deal with day-to-date again in the future.

Jenkins is set to direct Wonder Woman 3, which will reunite the filmmaker with Gal Gadot. The sequel has not yet been given an official release date but stay tuned for more updates on this story.
