Pat Carroll Real Cause Of Death: ‘The Little Mermaid’s’ Ursula Dead At 95

Grammy and Emmy Award-winning actress Pat Carroll – who voiced the menacing Ursula in Disney animated film The Little Mermaid, died at the age of 95. According to a report from Deadline, the Disney veteran has died at her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, while recovering from Pneumonia.

Pat Carroll's Impressive Career As An Actress

Carroll kickstarted her career with the 1947 film Hometown Girl. Just a decade later, she earned her first Emmy Award for her role in the sketch comedy series Ceasar's House, and her career thrived even more and became a regular for Make Room for Daddy sitcom from 1961 to 1964. She then appeared in renowned variety shows from the 1950s to 1970s, including The Danny Kaye Show, The Red Buttons Show, and The Carol Burnett Show.

In 1956, Carroll officially set foot into the world of Disney by playing Prunella, one of Cinderella's wicked stepsisters in the musical version of Cinderella.

There's no denying that Carroll's most memorable role was in 1989s The Little Mermaid, where she played the evil sea witch, Ursula, for whom she was widely known. She sang the iconic Poor Unfortunate Souls and probably frightened little children with her spine-chilling voice portrayal of the gigantic villain.

The prolific voice actress revealed many times that Ursula was her favorite among her many roles. She reprised the role in several other productions, including 2001s House of Mouse and in an episode of the Disney short series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse.

Despite her old age, Carroll still enjoyed doing what she does best and played notable roles as the Granny in Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro, Old Lady Crowley in Tangled: The Series, and tutu-wearing Kookoo the gorilla in Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. Her final on-screen appearance was on BFFs, where she starred as Joan.
