Parks & Rec Star Lands Mysterious Role in HBO's The Last Of Us

The cast of HBO's The Last of Us TV series has grown even more impressive. Another well-known TV actor appears to be joining the ranks: Nick Offerman, best known for his role on NBC's Parks & Recreation as grumpy department head Ron Swanson.

Murray Bartlett, who recently starred in HBO's The White Lotus, recently spoke to The Guardian about his role as Frank in The Last of Us. When asked about his experience filming the show, Bartlett accidentally disclosed that several of his scenes feature the Parks & Rec actor:

"We filmed it in Calgary. A lot of my scenes are with Nick Offerman," Bartlett said. "Playing off him was awesome."

Who Could Offerman Play in The Last of Us?

Fans were quick to notice the surprise revelation and are already speculating about Offerman's likely participation in The Last of Us. Fans have speculated that because the role of Bill has already been cast, Offerman has been cast as David, Eugene, or Henry.

Others have speculated that Offerman is portraying the man Frank seeks after becoming infected or another character who does not appear in the games.

HBO's Vision

If there's any concern that The Last of Us won't live up to the great quality of the games, HBO is doing everything to dispel any misgivings.

Bella Ramsey, claims it's the biggest project she's ever worked on, which is saying a lot considering she participated in numerous episodes of Game of Thrones.

"It [The Last of Us] does definitely feel like the biggest thing I have done and I have to not think about that too much as it freaks me out a little bit," Ramsey told the BBC earlier this year. "When I got over here I had two weeks' quarantine alone with my thoughts and I had to not think about the scale of it."

The TV series' writers and producers will stay pretty loyal to the events of Naughty Dog's original The Last of Us game, but they will make a few tweaks to help adapt the story for television. There will be characters created particularly for the show that were not in the game, so there's no guarantee that Offerman will play a role that game players will recall.

Whatever his role, Offerman's man-of-the-woods attitude and love of chopping wood in and out of character make him an excellent fit for the hit HBO show.
