With the Spring 23 season just a few weeks away, the Oshi no Ko anime finally confirmed its TV premiere date ahead of the advance screenings in Japan for its first episode.

Specifically, the Oshi no Ko advance screenings will begin tomorrow, March 17, in select theaters across Japan.

These screenings will give fans a chance to watch the extra-long first episode of the anime ahead of its TV premiere.

While screenings weren’t as common before, it seems that the success of theatrical anime runs in Japan has resulted in more advanced screenings of seasonal anime.

While most manga series set up their stories in the first three chapters or so, Oshi no Ko is different as it used its first 10 chapters to properly set up the premise. This is because the 10th chapter is sort of the true beginning of the series.

Because of this, the anime adaptation announced that its first episode is going to be a 90-minute special, which is essentially a movie-length anime episode.

Given this, coupled with the manga’s popularity, it comes as no surprise that the episode will get an advance screening in Japan tomorrow.

After all, the series is written by Kaguya-sama: Love Is War’s creator, Aka Akasaka.

But unlike the similar Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village World Tour, this Oshi no Ko screening will only take place in Japan.

At least, fans won’t have to wait too long as the series will officially release in less than a month.

On the show’s official Twitter account, it was revealed that the Oshi no Ko anime will be released in the second week of April, meaning it won’t be part of the first batch of Spring 23 shows.

Specifically, the show’s first episode is set to air on April 12, 2023, on TOKYO MX. It will also be available on ABEMA on the same day.

Interestingly, it seems that the anime’s episodes will be released on the same day as the new manga chapters.

Oshi no Ko is one of the most anticipated shows of Spring 23, alongside other highly anticipated titles like Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village, The Witch from Mercury Season 2, and more.

For now, there’s no official word yet on when it will be released outside Japan, but it’s likely that it will be streamed on April 12 as well.

This is because HIDIVE has announced that it will release the series on its platform via simulcast.
