Original Harry Potter Stars Reportedly Being Threatened To Reprise Roles in Reboot

Warner Bros. has recently been attempting to revive the Harry Potter franchise with a reboot TV series starring a new set of cast members. That’s not all, though.

Initially, there was word on a Harry Potter 9 being in development, which is set to adapt The Cursed Child. Amid bringing the Wizarding World back to life, a new report claims that original stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are not interested in returning to the franchise.

Insider Jeff Sneider recently spoke on The Hot Mic podcast and claimed that multiple reports have confirmed that Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is being talked about at Warner Bros. However, the main issue the studio is facing is bringing back the key actors to reprise their roles.

Sneider specified that Radcliffe and Watson have been ‘skeptical’ on returning to their roles, in which Warner Bros. is using the reported seven-season HBO reboot series as “leverage” to threaten Radcliffe and Watson under the idea that new actors will be replacing their roles.

Back in November, it was reported that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and executives Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy were planning to adapt The Cursed Child to expand the Wizarding World franchise.

They had even attempted to “buy JK Rowling out” of the franchise, seeing as the controversial creator’s reputation due to her anti-trans opinion is hindering any progress.

Considering that Rowling is in no way changing her mind on seeing Transpeople as they are, there is no way to convince the original cast to return, especially since Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are huge advocates for the people of the LGBTQ+ community.

On the brighter side of things, original Ronald Weasley actor Rupert Grint had previously confirmed he would be more than willing to return to the franchise, if the timing is right.

Now, whether Warner Bros. decides to recast the respective roles to older actors would be a huge mistake, seeing as there is no beating the OG trio in doing their roles.

It is quite understandable for the original actors to not want to return, seeing as the franchise is as dead as it is, unless they perhaps think of a Marauders series? Something else apart from reviving the original film series.

Besides, even Potterheads aren’t all too happy of a reboot coming on.
