She won the competition and became the eighth representative from the U.S. who bag the title and the first since Broke Lee earned the crown in 1997. She, too, was the first Rhode Islander to be a Miss Universe.

Olivia Culpo in Her Breakup with Nick Jonas
Culpo found herself in a tough situation after breaking up with Nick Jonas in 2015. In her new reality show, The Culpo Sisters, she opened up about her financial and personal struggles after moving to L.A. during her relationship with the singer-songwriter.
“I had no brand, no money, and I was in love,” she said, per Page Six. “But when he broke up with me, I was kind of left with no sense of identity. My whole identity was in him, which is a very common story of a young person in love.”

At the time, he couldn’t pay her rent or buy her groceries.
“It was a serious, pivotal moment for me, but it was something that taught me that you can’t give up,” she continued.
