Official Lightyear Trailer 2 Features Another Iconic Toy Story Character

The second official trailer for Disney and Pixar's Lightyear movie is here! The first trailer was released a few months ago, and with the film set for release in June this year, Toy Story fans have been waiting with bated breath for more footage. And now, our prayers have been answered, as the brand-new trailer takes us to infinity and beyond!

Lightyear is the first spin-off movie to the hugely-popular Toy Story movies, but it is in no way connected canonically. The film follows the titular space ranger, who is indeed revealed in the new trailer to be called 'Buzz' Lightyear, just like his action figure-counterpart.

While very little has been revealed about the plot, it's already obvious that this movie's version of the iconic space ranger is the 'real' version - a human test pilot who will likely go on to 'inspire' the Buzz Lightyear brand, as seen in the Toy Story movies.

Check out the brand-new trailer below:

The new movie looks like a blast, and while we've become so used to hearing Tim Allen voice Buzz over the years, Chris Evans sounds perfect as everyone's favorite space ranger. Not only that, but this is a completely different version of the character anyway.

The trailer reveals quite a bit, including several interesting characters (not to mention Buzz Lightyear's robotic cat). However, after months of speculation, the trailer confirms the addition of a character fans will definitely recognize from the Toy Story movies.

Like Buzz Lightyear, this character also appears in a more 'realistic' form, but with that said, there's still nothing at all human about him! Yes, the trailer features none other than Buzz Lightyear's arch-nemesis (and father, according to Toy Story 2!), Emperor Zurg!

Zurg is shown a few times in the trailer, as a large robot with a hand-canon not unlike that of his toy counterpart. But this time, it doesn't look like he's firing foam balls! This is exciting news for Toy Story fans, and it begs to question which other characters might appear.

The first trailer was released a few months ago, and like the new one, promises an out-of-this-world movie. Check it out below:

There isn't a great deal of difference between the two trailers, other than the fact that the latest one reveals a lot more in terms of who the villain is. We also learn that Buzz Lightyear winds up marooned on an alien planet for a year, with many other astronauts.

As such, it's possible to expect the Little Green Men from the Toy Story movies - at least in some shape or form. Either way, it looks like Buzz will be leading a mission that involves getting everyone home. The song "Starman" by David Bowie also plays in the new trailer.

The new trailer also reveals Buzz in his full space ranger outfit, which will likely have Toy Story fans everywhere punching the air. This was only teased in the original trailer, as was 'Crystallic fusion', which is first mentioned in the original Toy Story movie.

However, the latest trailer certainly doesn't hold back, as it shows Buzz using this energy source to jump into what looks like hyperspace - or perhaps a better term would be 'lightspeed' travel. We also see that Zurg has several smaller robots at his disposal.
