Noah Hawley Shares Update on His Star Trek Film

We already know that all Star Trek movies are currently on hold at Paramount Pictures as the studio considers how the franchise should move forward. So what are the chances that Paramount will choose to go with Noah Hawley's film which is set to introduce new characters? The Legion showrunner has finally offered an update on his project.

Hawley recently spoke to Deadline where he was asked if he will be working on his Star Trek movie soon. Sadly, the Fargo showrunner's response isn't very hopeful.

"It doesn't appear to be in my immediate future," Hawley said. He then added that new Paramount Pictures president Emma Watts is the one who decided not to pursue the project anytime soon.

"I think when [Watts] came in, she took a look at the franchise and wanted to go in a different direction with it," Hawley stated. On the other hand, he hasn't given up hope on his vision for the future of Star Trek.

"But you know, life is long, we were very close to production but in this business that doesn't mean much. You got to get out of the gate to be in the race if you know what I mean," Hawley concluded.

Hawley had previously confirmed that his Star Trek movie will introduce new characters instead of bringing in the cast of J.J. Abrams' reboot. In addition to that, the film is expected to focus on "a virus that wipes out vast parts of the known universe" which might not be a good idea considering the current situation.

For now, there is a possibility that Hawley's Star Trek will eventually start production but it may take some time. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
