No Assassin's Creed Installment Coming in 2019

With Assassin's Creed Odyssey coming out a year after Origins, many assumed that Ubisoft was back to releasing an installment of the game every year. There are only a handful of yearly games, after all, most of which are sports games or 2K's WWE series and it seemed like AC was going to join them again. Apparently, that won't be the case and we won't be seeing a new game next year.

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, revealed during Gamescom (via GameSpot) that the reason they were able to release two new installments back-to-back was due to the break that was taken in 2017. This is also when they decided to fully revamp the series and focus more on the RPG elements over the stealth and exploration, though both will still be around in Odyssey.

"On Assassin's, we had a game [in 2018] and we have one this year, but we are not going to have a full-fledged Assassin's next year. It's just because the team were working separately, so we have two games now, one year after the other. But next year you're not going to have a fully fledged one."

No new Assassin's Creed game will be coming out in 2019, with Ubisoft promising that Odyssey will feel like a full package. Guillemot also confirmed that there would be no spinoff like in 2017 when they released the 2.5D Assassin's Creed Liberation games. In the end, the company is fine not releasing the series yearly since it means people won't be sick of their games.

The new Greek setting has many interested in Odyssey, with the player being either the son or daughter of Leonidas. It's definitely more interesting than Origins thus far.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey comes out on October 5.
