New Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Image Confirms The Spot Is Tougher Than Expected

There is little doubt that people are still questioning why The Spot has been chosen to be the Big Bad in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After all, the comic book villain lacks the badassery we would expect in a major baddie like, for instance, Kingpin. Still, a new image from the highly anticipated animated sequel confirms that The Spot is a lot tougher than we thought as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy struggle to defeat him!

The new still from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was dropped by Empire and offers a glimpse at The Spot taking on three Spider-People at the same time. However, it doesn't look like the villain is at a disadvantage at all. The image shows The Spot using his power to avoid Gwen Stacy's kick ... by making her leg hit Miles Morales instead! It's an impressive move and even Spider-Man India is shocked.

Although we're not happy that the Spider-People are having a hard time fighting The Spot, it's also great to know that he isn't going to be a pushover in Across the Spider-Verse. With that in mind, we can't wait to see how Miles, Gwen, and the rest of the Spider-Folks are going to deal with him later this year.

Another awesome thing about the image is the appearance of Spider-Man India. It has already been confirmed that Deadpool star Karan Soni will provide the voice of Pavitr Prabhakar in Across the Spider-Verse. Needless to say, he's another character we can't wait to meet in the film.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers. The sequel will feature the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham and Oscar Isaac. It is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
