New Shazam 2 Trailer Showcases the DC Hero's Biggest Threat Yet

As we're now just two months away from its release in theaters, Warner Bros. released the new trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods. It gives us an extended look at the titular hero's next action-packed adventure as well as the Shazam Family, who seems to have a bigger role this time around.

The main highlight of the trailer is Shazam's biggest threat yet: the daughters of Atlas led by Hespera (played by Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren), who is upset that the heroes possess her father's powers. We also got a glimpse into some of the battle sequences which include a giant dragon.

The trailer also gave us a glimpse at the return of Djimon Hounsou's Wizard, who seems to have a much bigger role in the sequel and will serve as a mentor for the hero as he is facing his most dangerous battle yet as one of the newest heroes in the DCEU.

This should add up to the hype as a lot of fans are looking forward to seeing what the sequel has in store and finding out what Billy Batson/Shazam is up to now. While the hero's future in the new DCU is currently uncertain, it is still exciting to see his next journey and witness more of his adventures.

The synopsis of the film reads: "When Billy Batson and his foster siblings, who transform into superheroes by saying "Shazam!", are forced to get back into action and fight the Daughters of Atlas, they must stop them from using a weapon that could destroy the world in which they must travel in order to make peace with the Gods because of Billy taking their powers for granted."

The cast includes Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Ian Chen, Meagan Good, Faithe Herman, Djimon Hounsou, and Grace Fulton. David F. Sandberg returned to direct the film.
