New Ratchet & Clank Game Could be a Launch Title for the PS5

Very few video game mascots manage to make their mark in pop culture from Crash Bandicoot to Kratos. What's interesting is Insomniac could be bringing one of gaming's favorite furries as a launch title for the PS5.

As per insider Colin Moriarty, we could be getting a new Ratchet & Clank game that will open us to the next generation of console gaming. Talking to Sacred Symbols (via ComicBook), Moriarty explains, "We're going to get a Ratchet & Clank in-between that [Spider-Man 2018 and its sequel) on PlayStation 5… I feel like that's going to be a launch game, the Ratchet & Clank game that's long been in development at Insomniac."

If you're not too familiar with Ratchet & Clank, it's an action platformer that lets players take control of anthropomorphic cat Ratchet and his robot sidekick Clank. The game has a huge emphasis on weapons and has released 14 titles since 2002.

It's worth noting that the game had actually been teased way back in 2018, with the implication that it could come out for the PS4. With the title possibly coming to PS5 though, some think that there will be two versions coming out, one of the next-gen, and one for the PS4—which makes complete sense, since people will still be waiting on the transition into the PS5, which could take a few more years.

No release date has been set for the next Ratchet & Clank game, but the PS5 is set to launch this coming December.
