New Poll Shows That Lord Of The Rings Is More Popular Than Star Wars

The Star Wars franchise might have had a pretty strong come back with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, however, it seems like the Lord of the Rings is being considered the more popular franchise – at least on Twitter.

NX On Netflix just recently put up a poll on Twitter asking Netizens which franchise fans liked the most, and it seems like the Lord of the Rings has Star Wars beat by an overwhelming 69% to a 39% from a pool of about 38,000 votes.

That's a major difference in numbers between the two franchises, showing fans that the Lord of the Rings is maintaining its popularity, even though the last movie in the franchise, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies, came out way back in 2014.

Of course, the poll isn't really indicative of which franchise is legitimately more popular. After all, a 38,000 sample size isn't really enough to answer the question of popularity. Star Wars is a pretty active franchise with its third sequel trilogy entry set for release this December and with a couple of new series set to stream on Disney's new site, Disney+. Not to mention the upcoming trilogy by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and the trilogy by Game of Thrones showrunners D.B.Weiss and David Benioff.

Lord of the Rings on the other hand hasn't been as active with Amazon's upcoming live-action series yet to see a complete release date.
