New Nintendo Switch Model With Better Battery Life Announced

If the Nintendo Switch Lite isn't to your liking then the company has a great "alternative" for you; the regular Nintendo Switch but with longer battery life. That's right, the company made a fairly low-key announcement that the older Switch models will be updated with a slightly newer one that has a more powerful battery. The "announcement" was made on their official website and this "new" Switch will be coming out mid-August.

The original model can last 2.5 to 6.5 hours depending on what you're playing. Something 2D like Chasm or New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will get you a lot of mileage while Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will eat up a lot of your battery, probably lasting the mentioned 2.5 hours. However, this new model seems to be a lot better; lasting 4.5 to 9 hours, once again depending on the game.

No lie, that is a huge improvement.

Does this mean players should exchange their perfectly fine Nintendo Switch for this new one? Probably not. You'd need Nintendo Online to transfer your save data for one thing and having to transfer everything would be a pain. Still, it is much more powerful so those that aren't pleased with their current Switch and don't want the Switch Lite should consider this.

And if you don't have a Switch yet? Wait till August.

What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Switch with better battery life?
