New Mortal Kombat Film Will Do Justice to Scorpion and Sub Zero

The new Mortal Kombat film might still be a little less than a month away but people already have high hopes for the reboot. After all, the new movie is being produced by James Wan and boasts of a stellar cast. But will it be different from the previous films based on the NetherRealm video games? One of the film's producers has just confirmed that the reboot will finally do justice to Scorpion and Sub Zero.

It's no secret that both Scorpion and Sub Zero are two of the fan-favorite characters in the video games. Unfortunately, both characters were severely underutilized in the 1995 movie. Luckily, Todd Garner, who is co-producing the reboot with Wan, has confirmed on Twitter that these characters will play a more significant role next year. Take a look at his response to a fan's tweet below.

We're certainly looking forward to big things in the new Mortal Kombat film. After all, Scorpion and Sub Zero will be played by big names.

Scorpion will be portrayed by Hiroyuki Sanada, who has made a name for himself for memorable performances in movies like The Last Samurai, The Wolverine, and 47 Ronin. He also had a small role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick Avengers: Endgame.

The Raid star Joe Taslim has been cast as Sub Zero. Taslim had previously played the villainous Jah in Fast and Furious 6 before landing roles in Star Trek: Beyond, The Night Comes For Us, and Warrior. Needless to say, these are amazing actors with martial arts backgrounds who will undoubtedly nail their roles in Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat is scheduled for release on January 15, 2021.
