Little is known on what Daredevil: Born Again is planning to be about once it debuts under Disney+. The reboot was previously speculated to tackle more on the origins of Matt Murdock as a lawyer, apart from his alter-ego as a super. Now, one of the most highly anticipated things to look forward to in the series is also Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin return.

While many original Netflix cast members are not set to reprise their characters in the Disney+ version, Kingpin is not one of them. In fact, new photos taken on the Disney+ set confirms a much bigger role for Kingpin in this reboot: his origin story as a child. Check out some of the photos below:

The new photos indicate some of the many flashback scenes the Disney reboot is expected to show, and as the images suggest Kingpin aka a young Wilson Fisk wandering in New York City during the 1970s, in which he encounters the neighborhood bullies.

This isn’t the first time we get to see Kingpin’s flashback origin story, as he already had ones shown in the Netflix series, which was on Season 1 Episode 8, where Kingpin’s younger role was portrayed by Cole Jensen and was seen with his abusive father, who ultimately shaped Kingpin into a Daredevil villain.

It is also worth mentioning that the posts indicate that the filming was a “flashback episode” instead of just a “flashback scene”, which all the more indicates more screen time for both Matt and Kingpin’s origin stories. It remains unclear for now, though, if Disney had rewritten their initially introduced stories or not.

However, seeing as Daredevil: Born Again is set to have 18 episodes, it is possible for the archnemeses to gain their own time in revealing more of their past to the MCU fans.

Daredevil: Born Again has no official release date for now. However, it is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
