New Ant-Man 3 Trailer Reveals Kang Has Killed Avengers Before

Marvel Phase Five opens with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is bound to introduce the new big bad of the MCU: Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). While we have yet to fully unveil just how strong the new Thanos is, the new movie trailer for the Ant-Man threequel revealed that Kang has, indeed, killed Avengers before.

We lost Iron Man to Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, and with Kang the Conqueror being speculated to be one of the darkest and strongest variants of He Who Remains in Loki, it is possible that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is in more danger than he realizes. If you watched the new trailer, it has once again featured another extended scene of the conversation between Scott Lang and Kang the Conqueror in the Quantum Realm. This time, Kang says, “You’re an interesting man, Scott Lang,” with yet another ambiguous line that could possibly lead to the demise of Ant-Man, “You’re an Avenger. Have I killed you before?”

Given the sense that Kang found himself questioning if he had ever encountered Ant-Man (who is seen as a variant in Kang’s perspective) before, we can assume that the villain had indeed killed Avengers before. Here’s the thing: the Avengers is not only made up of mortals, but even the god of thunder, Thor. So, for Kang to suggest that he probably has killed an Ant-Man variant previously is what lies at stake here for the Ant-Man threequel.

Ant-Man 3 director Peyton Reed has always expressed that the Ant-Man franchise is more than just a “cleansing palate” before the Avengers films arrive. However, this time, Kevin Feige lent the Phase opener to the Ant-Man threequel seeing as “[Ant-Man] deserves it.” It is interesting to see how the MCU heroes will escape Kang's clutches in the Quantum Realm.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to premiere in theaters on February 17. Check out more details and updates about it here.
