National Treasure: Edge of History tethered between being a good spin-off series and being a less-than-stellar show that needs a little bump to live up to the main franchise.

The show scored 37% on the Tomatometer and 39% on the Audience Score in Rotten Tomato, gaining mixed reviews from critics on the site. One critic praised the cleverness of the series:

Half the fun of this genre is in the sheer satisfaction to be gleaned by watching someone figure out seemingly impossible things and making it seem as easy as pie. That’s something that “Edge of History” offers by the bucketful.
Kayleigh Donaldson

However, more critics remained unimpressed:

The action advances through coincidences that are too coincidental—and the puzzles, which form the core of the film franchise, seem to be afterthoughts. Some of the characters’ actions feel contrived or simply don’t make sense.
Collin Garbarino
