Mortal Kombat Co-Creator Wants Scorpion and Sub-Zero to Join Smash Bros Ultimate

There is little doubt that Scorpion and Sub-Zero are some of the coolest characters in Mortal Kombat. But could the ninjas actually cross over and show up in Smash Bros. Ultimate? Ed Boon wants his characters to make the move over to the beloved video game.

Boon, who is credited as one of the creators of Mortal Kombat, spoke to ShackNews about the possibility. Not surprisingly, the video game programmer says that having Scorpion and Sub-Zero in Smash Bros Ultimate would mean that they are some of the best playable characters.

"For me personally (I can't speak for all of Warner Bros or anything), that would be kind of like a stamp of approval," Boon said. "It'd be like being part of the gang and all that stuff. I would love to see that."

Of course, the crossover would still be up to the studios involved. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that it will happen in the future.

Although it is still unclear whether Scorpion and Sub-Zero will eventually show up in Smash Bros Ultimate, fans can still see the live-action version of the characters next year. The upcoming Mortal Kombat film will feature Avengers: Endgame star Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion and Joe Taslim of The Raid as Sub-Zero.

The Mortal Kombat film has recently wrapped up filming and is currently in post-production. The movie is already scheduled for release on January 15, 2021.
