Mortal Kombat 2: Hiroyuki Sanada Teases Scorpion's Possible Return

It has already been confirmed that Mortal Kombat 2 is happening and people are expecting new video game characters to show up in the sequel. For instance, we're really hoping that Johnny Cage finally makes an appearance. But is it also possible we'll see the return of a fan favorite? Hiroyuki Sanada says he wants to reprise his role as Scorpion in the second film and he has a pretty relatable reason for the comeback!

In the first film, Hiroyuki Sanada only appeared in the opening and climactic fight scenes, both of which were with Joe Taslim's villainous character. Although we didn't see much of Hanzo Hasashi or his alter ego Scorpion in the movie, the Army of the Dead star admitted that he hopes to return in Mortal Kombat 2.

Hiroyuki Sanada recently spoke to Comicbook.com while promoting his new film Bullet Train. When asked whether he would return as Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 2, Sanada stated that he is uncertain about his character's future.

"I have no idea, I didn't hear anything officially yet," Sanada said.

However, that doesn't mean he isn't interested in returning for the sequel. Sanada added that he wishes to come back in Mortal Kombat 2 because there's something he still wishes to do in the film.

"I hope they'll make a Scorpion part, and I will get to say 'Get over here!' again," Sanada said.

It's certainly an iconic line and we're hoping that we haven't heard the last of it just yet. Still, Sanada is not yet confirmed to return in Mortal Kombat 2 so we'll have to wait until we get an official announcement from the producers.

Mortal Kombat 2 will bring back director Simon McQuoid but the cast has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
