Mortal Kombat 11 TV Spot Reveals First Look at Kitana

If Liu Kang is the main hero of Mortal Kombat, then Kitana is definitely his female counterpart. The game is set to come out later this month, and a new TV spot has given us the game's first look at Edenia's princess Kitana.

While Kitana has appeared in Mortal Kombat since the second game, this is the first time we're seeing her translated as someone of Asian descent. I have to say, the look is extremely fitting for her, counting that her name is kind of derived from a combination of Japanese words katana and kitsune (fox). Now I'm curious if the Asian look is going to translate to Mileena, counting that she's Kitana's clone—then again, Mileena has not been confirmed as a playable character for Mortal Kombat 11… yet.

As you can see, Kitana comes with her signature fans, but like every other character in the game, it's likely that players can customize her playing style to fit their preferences. It's likely that she could come with an array of different weapons.

Though Sony Blade is considered to be one of the main heroines in the Mortal Kombat franchise, the character of Kitana also comes with her own prestige. She's 10,000 years old and has been a loyal servant of Shao Khan before she decided to side with EarthRealm. It will be interesting to see how her story plays out with Mortal Kombat 11.

Catch Mortal Kombat 11 when becomes playable for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 23.
