Morfydd Clark Explains Why She Hasn't Reached Out To Original Galadriel Cate Blanchett

There is little doubt that Galadriel is dynamically different in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This might have a lot to do with the fact that Morfydd Clark has never reached out to Cate Blanchett since taking over the role.

But why is Morfydd Clark staying away from the original Galadriel actor? She just revealed an interesting reason for avoiding Cate Blanchett.

New Galadriel Actor Admits Being Afraid To Meet Cate Blanchett

Morfydd Clark was recently a guest on the Unwrapped podcast where she opened up about working on The Rings of Power. During the interview, she admitted she is afraid of meeting Cate Blanchett.

“I kind of feel like [Cate] is kind of like a queen…I wouldn’t dare to approach,” Clark said.

“I do feel like everyone in those films are like my heroes – let alone all the other stuff they’ve done. Just from those films, they are like certified to me as like special special people in my Morfydd universe,” she added.

Clark then confessed that there is a certain pressure about meeting Blanchett.

“Meeting your heroes is not necessarily what it’s cracked up to be,” she said. “Not because they’re not great but because then you have the social anxiety of you associated with that person.”

“[Cate] is like mythical, someone I can’t believe even exists… but I kind of see her as my guiding light,” Clark continued. “And then who knows what will happen. But I just think if it happens, I will be, like, incredibly awkward.”

It certainly makes sense and we would all be nervous about meeting Cate Blanchett. Needless to say, it's a reasonable decision for Morfydd Clark.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is currently in production. However, the second season has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
