When the Demon Slayer manga first came out, it wasn’t a huge hit. But when the anime adaptation by ufotable aired in 2019, Demon Slayer quickly became one of the most popular modern shonen titles.

Its popularity is immense in Japan, enough that the Mugen Train movie became the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.

Its popularity isn’t just limited to Japan though as the first season got a lot of buzz during its release.

But unlike in Japan where the show aired on TV, fans in the US and other countries got to watch new episodes on Crunchyroll.

Because of how complicated anime streaming rights are, Netflix initially got the rights to stream the series only in select countries in Asia.

But in 2021, Netflix also got the rights to stream Demon Slayer Season 1 in more countries worldwide.

Currently, only the show’s first season is available in the US and select countries like the UK.

Soon though, fans in these countries will be able to watch the show on Netflix.

According to a Netflix listing, Demon Slayer Season 2 is coming to the platform on January 21, 2023. This means fans won’t be limited anymore to watching the series on Crunchyroll or Funimation.

There’s no word yet on the full list of countries where new Demon Slayer episodes will be available. Though the listing is confirmed to appear in the US and the UK.

One thing to note is that the listing only mentions Season 2. It’s not clear if this means only the seven Mugen Train episodes will be streamed or if the Entertainment District arc will also be included.

Right now, the Mugen Train series version and the Entertainment District arc are available on Netflix in seven countries in Asia only. Here, they are listed as Season 2 and Season 3, respectively.

With Netflix getting the rights to more episodes, there’s a possibility that the Swordsmith Village arc will also be released on Netflix when it premieres this April.
