There is little doubt that most fans probably remember Ming-Na Wen for playing the live-action version of Chun Li before she became Melinda May in Agents of SHIELD. However, the role in the Street Fighter movie almost convinced the Mandalorian star to avoid action roles.
Wen recently spoke to Looper where she revealed that taking on roles that involved fighting wasn't exactly something she wanted to do when she was younger. "In college, I studied Shakespeare. I mean, we were all into the theater and plays," Wen said. "The only thing that we would do would be like stage combat and dance and the kind of physical aspect of acting."
Although she preferred more dramatic roles like the one she took in The Joy Luck Club, Wen decided to go for the adaptation of the Capcom film. Unfortunately, it convinced her that nobody would take her seriously.
"After I did Street Fighter, I had said to myself, 'You know what? I'm never going to go and do action again.' Because at that time I was young. I wanted to be a serious actor," Wen admitted.

We're just glad that Wen changed her mind because she ended up playing May in Agents of SHIELD. In addition to that, her portrayal of Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian was awesome as well.
Wen continues to play May in the final season of Agents of SHIELD which airs every Wednesday night on ABC.
