Everyone has been waiting on the release dates for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, and while it seemed like Sony and Microsoft were playing a game of price tag chicken, Microsoft has gone ahead and given us the official reveal of one of their next-gen consoles, the Xbox Series S.

Here's the official description:

Introducing Xbox Series S. Next-gen performance in the smallest Xbox ever. Experience the speed and performance of a next-gen, all-digital console at an accessible price point: $299 (ERP).*

While we don't have an official price on the flagship console that is the Xbox Series X, it has been confirmed by Polygon that both Series S and X will be releasing on November 10.

I have to say, after losing the current-gen to Sony's PS4, Xbox has really leveled the playing field with their reveals for their next-gen of consoles. Not only does the Series S have a surprisingly low price tag, but it is also unbelievably compact, definitely the smallest Xbox ever made.

We don't have many details yet on how the Series X is better, but I have a feeling that the Series X will be able to play games at a much higher rate, and you can probably keep the console on for longer since the Series S doesn't have the cooling fan. It's also worth mentioning that the Series S is completely digital, so you probably won't be able to invest on a physical collection for your library if that's your thing.

This is one impressive reveal from Xbox and I'm curious how PlayStation decides to retort.

The Xbox Series S and Series X are set for a release on Nov. 10.
