Microsoft Allegedly Wants to Buy WB Games

Xbox had admittedly lost the current generation of the console wars with PlayStation partly because of the PS4's great list of exclusives, but things could change if Microsoft decides to pursue the purchase of one WB Games.

According to The Information, sources who are ‘familiar with the situation' have found out that Microsoft is looking to purchase WB Games, the very same studio which holds IP for titles like Mortal Kombat, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, and the widely popular Batman: Arkham series (not to mention Harry Potter).

Should the purchase push through, people are thinking that Microsoft will aim to make titles like Arkham exclusive to their console the Xbox Series X. After years of PlayStation gamers lording over the fact they can play titles like God of War and Spider-Man, this is sure to give the Xbox a significant advantage—that is if the purchase pushes through.

By any case, it doesn't look like a sale is imminent as of the moment. For now, AT&T is still figuring out how to handle their huge debt after acquiring Time Warner, but they could opt to sell the studio in hopes to clear some of that debt. If anything, Microsoft isn't the only one interested in getting WB Games; it's said that Activision Blizzard, EA, and Take-Two Interactive are also looking to bring the company into the fold.

Personally, I'm against the idea of exclusives, but if this somehow pushes through, than people will be finding a harder time picking between the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5.
