Penguin Random House announced that the memoir written by Prince Harry would be out early next year. However, its release date raised eyebrows, and the delay might have something to do with Michelle Obama, a royal correspondent claims.

Did Prince Harry Delay Memoir Spare For Michelle Obama?

The Duke of Sussex's memoir was expected to hit shelves this fall. Many were expected to see it before the year ends. But the publisher said it would not be available until January.

Daily Mail's Royal correspondent and editor Rebecca English weighed in on the delay of Prince Harry's book. According to her, it was probably pushed back because his friend Michelle Obama is also released a new book titled The Light We Carry, which will be out on Nov. 15.

"It's going to be published on January 10 which is a surprise for a lot in the publishing industry who thought that they would want to capitalise on the Christmas rush," English said on Palace Confidential, Express reported. "Someone I spoke to said to me they would never hold something of this magnitude over until January."

She added that she heard two possible reasons for the delay — Prince Harry wanting to alter the content and Obama's upcoming book.

"I've been told it's two-fold because he has asked to make changes but also I think there is an issue in America about actually getting the raw goods to publish books," she continued.

"They've also got Michelle Obama's book and that might be an issue with the binding of books."

Are Michelle Obama And Prince Harry Good Friends?

The former first lady and the Duke of Sussex are good friends. In 2016, the ex-FLOTUS joined Prince William's brother and promoted Invictus Games. Obama has a soft spot for Meghan Markle's husband.

“It is truly an honor to be here tonight to help kick off this year’s Invictus Games,” she said on being part of the sporting event that Prince Harry founded. “I want to, of course, start by thanking Prince Harry for his outstanding leadership and for bringing the Invictus Games here to Orlando. He is truly our Prince Charming.”

They also made a joint appearance on Good Morning America, where they laughed about their dueling videos in promoting the games.

Obama playfully taunted the Brits in the video alongside her husband, former President Barack Obama.

“Prince Harry, remember when you told us to ‘bring it’ at the Invictus Games?” she asked. “Careful what you wish for,” Barack added.

Prince Harry responded by enlisting his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, to join him in his video. The grandmother and grandson watched the Obamas' video, and Her Majesty smiled and said, “Oh really? Please!” she said dismissively, as Prince Harry mimed dropping a mic.
