Meghan Markle recently made some shocking claims in Harry & Meghan about not receiving training when she first joined the royal family. The Duchess of Sussex even said that being part of the British clan was nothing like what happened to Anne Hathaway's character in The Princess Diaries.
"Joining this family, I knew that there was a protocol for how things were done. And do you remember that old movie The Princess Diaries with Anne Hathaway? There's no class and some person who goes 'Sit like this, cross your legs like this, use this fork, don't do this, curtsy then, wear this kind of hat.' It doesn't happen. So, I needed to learn a lot," she said.
Meghan Markle Received An Intense Level Of Support From The Royal Family?
However, a source for 9Honey countered Markle's claims by saying that the level of support that she received was intense.
Weeks before Harry & Meghan was released, royal author Gyles Brandreth also revealed that Queen Elizabeth immediately stepped in to help Markle adjust to her life as a royal. She also tapped the assistance of Sophie Wessex and Queen Consort Camilla to guide Markle, but she refused.
"The Queen (who, of course, had seen it all before) understood that Harry's girl might find adjusting to royal life 'challenging to begin with (as she put it). To help Meghan, the Queen suggested that her daughter-in-law, Sophie Wessex, would be an ideal mentor. Sophie can help show you the ropes," Brandreth said.

Royal Family Didn't Prevent Meghan Markle From Inviting Her Niece To Her Royal Wedding?
Meanwhile, 9 Honey's source also denied Markle's claims that the royal family did not allow her to invite her niece, Ashleigh, to her royal wedding. The Duchess of Sussex explained that it wouldn't have looked nice because Thomas Markle Sr. and Samantha Markle weren't at the ceremony.
"We never gave any advice, steer, or guidance on who of her family or friends should or shouldn't come to her wedding. [Meghan] didn't want to invite her because it would have put her [Meghan] under intense scrutiny," the source said (via Now to Love).
"Meghan didn't want the media to know about Ashleigh. No one on earth would have said don't invite family to the wedding. That's a complete and utter lie. We wanted more family there to make it look less weird for her," a second source added.
Samantha Markle Slams Meghan Markle Over Harry & Meghan Claims
Even Markle's half-sister, Samantha Markle, slammed the Duchess of Sussex over some of the stories she shared in Harry & Meghan.
"No, I knew [Ashleigh] was not at the wedding and it kind of saddened me but it is surprising to hear that there was a narrative spun that made Ashleigh feel like she was not invited because of something having to do with me. Well, I heard from a royal insider who knows that [decision] was up to Meghan. So, Meghan lied to my daughter, which made my daughter, I think, feel begrudging of me a little bit, thinking it was my fault," she said (via New Idea).
